Nearly 90 % of the members of the clubhouse of mental health rehabilitation feel that the club house has been useful to them (OSI research project survey 2020). In the club houses, community participation supports recovery from severe mental disorders, improves self-esteem and encourages planning the future.
This potential, which supports rehabilitation available for mental health rehabilitation in everyday life, is now under threat due to the surgical pressure on the grants of Veikkaus social organizations.
Country’s 23 Club houses can lose over 1,5 million euros from their funding if the Ministry of Finance’s proposal comes true. The 20 % reduction in funding takes the base for participation offered by club houses, increases the exclusion and health deterioration of the mentally ill, and thus increases the cost of public services. Can we afford it? We have two club houses in East Uusimaa, in Porvoo and Loviisa, whose total number of members is over 350. So it really affects those in need of support in our area.
